rest = weakness
I love meeting Latinos from all over the world in a space where they can openly share the resilience that is inherent regardless of our nationality . No matter where you hail from , I have witnessed so many heartwarming stories of how our people have survived oppression , hustled to cope with injustice and yet sacrificed daily to build a better future for themselves and the generations to come .
Slowing down when we come from families that have endured this much just feels… wrong. Yet modern research has proven that our nervous system isn’t designed to live in survival mode all the time . We must rest in order to feel safe again and move forward in a healthy way. My hope is to create a space for you to start unpacking the idea that is ingrained in us that says “Keep going or you will fall behind.” My question then becomes what if we view rest as not an act of weakness, but as an act of repair which those before us could not have even fathomed ?
